idiosyncratic and somewhat endearing? Or is it destructive? It used to be that people thought you could turn personality traits off and on and that all it took to change was the will to change. But now we know our brains are like college freshmen, sometimes collected and functioning normally and sometimes completely out of control.
There are many disorders which affect our personalities and daily lives such as anxiety, obsessive compulsive, paranoid, narcissistic and schizoid, just to name a few. Most people with personality disorders lead pretty normal lives, what ever normal actually means, and these disorders tend to be an integral part of a persons personality.
If you spend any time reading psychology or research from psychologist you'll find sort of a mixed bag of theories on what a normal personality really is. Our personality is built from years of sensory input, what we have experienced, the emotions we formed from our experiences, and our thoughts built from these experiences. Combining them altogether we form a personality. What would be a normal personality however? Who decides that your life experiences don't fit into a normal life model so your personality isn't going to be normal. If you are capable of loving, working and adapting constructively to changing conditions and different people, then you are probably pretty level headed and normal.

We aren't going to get into that here, if you are or have concerns about this behavior here is a link to some of the indicators.
Weird and quirky people in my opinion are what make this world exciting and challenge us to open our own minds to strange and irrational behaviors, like your scatter brained aunt who leaves her life saving to her cat, or your older sister being upset that her life will never be as good or happy as when she was younger. Thinking that the future is pointless because you'll be in school for 5 years, work your whole life, then die. There are many variations to peoples personalities and how they project them, some may seem extreme, some just weird, most however are normal responses to life.
Many people will incorporate a personality disorder into their life simply as a means of making others believe they have the disorder. Comedians do it all the time, or talk show host with their Schizoid style deliveries and antics. It's best not to worry about having some form of personality disorder, that would be a disorder in itself, but live your life, when the time comes and some form of disorder starts to effectively consume your thoughts, feelings, emotions and ability to function, seek treatment.
Don't try and pretend you are normal - We all know you are not, just be you and live in the moment, because when you do, weird things start to happen, these weird things and people will fill your life with crazy, and for me crazy is acceptable.
